Experiencing pain is described as: “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage” (according to the International Association for the Study of Pain).
When physical pain is felt in the body, it is an unpleasant experience and can often cause an emotional effect and leave lasting trauma both physically and mentally.
Pain disorders can include acute pain, chronic pain and cancer pain, or a combination of any of these. Pain can be triggered by many causes, including nerve damage, injury, surgery, disease or through no obvious or direct cause.
A pain expert, such as myself, is a medically trained doctor with further training for specialisms in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of pain, in all its many forms and manifestations.
I have an in-depth knowledge of the physiology of pain which enables me to be able to evaluate claimants or defendants with their pain conditions and draw up expert medical reports in layman’s terms for ease of understanding in court proceedings.
My level of in-depth medico-legal pain knowledge and specialist insight is particularly useful for legal teams during clinical negligence and personal injury claims and ultimately assist the court in reaching a satisfactory judgement.
I can provide in-depth Pain Medicolegal Reports representing both claimant and defendants, in personal injury and medical negligence cases, and provide causation and prognosis reports, and joint statements.
